One of Sweden's most prolific composers has released yet another full length. His third this year, "Overworld" is a fantastic mix of guitar driven, hybrid orchestral, synth infused ear candy that prepares its listeners for action at every turn.

Having no shortage of his music in video games, movies and television, Ekholm continues to elevate his sound and stay ahead of the curve with his latest forward thinking effort.

Down to Business

Wasting no time, Overworld enters with "Blazing Fury" and sets the tone and pace of album throughout.  Cyberpunk sounding synths, pumping rhythms, and cleverly placed brass arrangements are all seamlessly woven together to form a marriage of textures that deliver track after track.

While everyone that knows me personally recognizes my taste for aggressive music, after listening to Overworld on repeat for the last several days, the track that stands out the most to me is "Edge of Time".  Following suit with Ekholm's consistent and well-thought-out sound pallet, the track is noticeably slower than its siblings but pulls on all of my available emotions with its ethereal melodies and classy guitar solo.

Overall, "Overworld" is a solid album that offers rock fans, synth fans, and fans of epic music plenty to chew on.
